First blog entry.

So, i had this tx1000 pavilion with running smoothly with Ubuntu 9.x. this laptop has heat problems so i was trying to go as light as possible, and at that time, i chose to try with Xubuntu. I didn't install fresh, but "upgraded" from the existing ubuntu-desktop*. It worked fine until I upgraded the system to 10.4... bad move**. Apparently the best solution, if you want to keep having the xubuntu environment but upgrade the base system, is to freshly install 10.4 -im not sure if its only a xubuntu thing.

That being said, in a near future, Ill begin this blog with some articles on Xubuntu and maybe BackTrack desktop configurations, if possible, from the installation phases. I will also be setting up a FreeBSD server after I leave my laptop spic 'n span (oh yeah, i just said it, i think...), so that will also be documented for you readers and *nix beginners (not that im an expert).

Anyhow, if you are a *nix geek and wish there were some updated info on how to solve very common problems, you'll be happy reading my blog. Just keep in mind that the nature of this blog is for me to keep documentation of the things I do to setup my computers with nice stable *nix environments -I just have crappy memory and loose everything i write down on paper, and there are just some things i just have to keep doing but never remember how i did last time, or useful tools and websites I encounter on the way.

*I'll either post the links to the explanations for this process or explain it myself since most available things out there are outdated.
